Heartsick

In the aftermath of the attack on the Capitol, it’s difficult to express all the feelings we as a nation and as individuals have experienced this past week.

For me, it’s a mixture of shock, fear, anger, horror, disbelief, but mostly sadness. Heartsick is the word that I keep hearing on the news and from family and friends. Indeed there is a heaviness sinking deep into my heart, mourning the loss of trust in our own people.

Without rehashing the lies and conspiracy theories, I’m saddened and tearful that so many are willing to follow the lead of a deranged individual instead of the truth, willing to attack our democracy instead of accepting defeat in order to unite as one.
