An Evolving Life. Cope Ability

Cope Ability

Heading to the beach this summer has taken on a whole new meaning. A year ago, we couldn’t have imagined that it could be a risky proposition. Trudging up the path between the dunes was well worth the moment when we could drop all our stuff as well as our worries and dig our toes into the sand.

But this year that sense of relief is no longer free. It comes at a cost. Will others stay six feet away? Will they don masks as they pass by on those narrow paths? Will COVID-19 learn how to swim?

As ludicrous as that sounds anything seems possible as far as the virus is concerned. It has invaded every corner of our lives, every crevice of our consciousness and cope ability.

For now, I’m staying in my backyard, hunkered down in my hammock. But one day before too long, I see myself heading up that path hiding under my hat, fixing my gaze on those umbrellas up ahead, measuring the social distance.

How much will I be willing to pay for a day at the beach? I just don’t know...
