An Evolving Life. Laid Back.
Laid Back
This year it felt like summer would never arrive. Now that it’s here, it’s time to unwind, enjoy, and rest! Actually take time to do nothing much. Not easy. Work is often my mantra, my driving force, my badge of accomplishment.
So this summer I’m making a pledge to take a break and savor the natural wonders that surround me here on the East End of Long Island. I’ve lived here for so long (30 years!) that I often take the sea, the sand, the luminous light, all for granted.
This past Tuesday I met a Miami University student visiting “The Hamptons” for the first time. Upon asking for her first impression of the area, she said, “it’s so laid-back, so different from the crowded beaches in Florida.”
Reflecting that sentiment, here’s a sketch, entitled Laid Back, completed that very afternoon at the weekly live model session I attend at the Southampton Cultural Center.
