Town and Country

New York City comes to a North Fork Gallery

Since the pandemic began, many folks with a main residence in the city sought refuge on the North Fork and have retreated to their second homes here only to find that the slower pace of this beautiful, bucolic area is really very good for the soul.  Actually, some have continued to stay here after last Labor Day and have found that new work-from-home opportunities have allowed them to adapt to permanent residences in this pastoral region.  After all, who wouldn’t want to live here with the vast open space, the wonderful artistic community, the bounty of the farms, a relaxing beach in every direction, and of course, award-winning wines?

However, for those who miss the energy, excitement, and cultural variety of the Big Apple, we brought a little bit of the City to our Gallery with a new exhibition.  Urbanesque II, NYC features three regional artists’ expressions of our most wonderful city through photography, painting and mixed media works that will be on exhibit through August 22.

An Artists’ Reception will be held outdoors on Gallery grounds Saturday, July 24 from 6-8pm and is open to the public.

About the exhibition and the artists:

Brooklyn-based photographic artist Linda Hacker’s works are inspired by the urban environment where she lives as she loves exploring the many mysteries and ambiguities of her metropolitan world.

Having grown up in Brooklyn and currently residing in Oceanside, artist Felix Burgos concentrates on the calm simplicity within the busy and somewhat chaotic life of our extraordinary NYC in his playful paintings.

Residing locally in Greenport after years living in Manhattan, artist Scott McIntire presents colorful silkscreen monoprints that portray some of New York's most iconic structures and the energies that surround them.
