Just Folks. Rainbow Carrots.

Rainbow Carrots. It feels like Fall.

These rainbow carrots just reminded me of fall foliage!

I couldn't resist painting them. I loved using long watery strokes and runny black ink reminiscent of the soil that they were just harvested from.

When I spend time sketching, it's very comforting as I get into "the zone." And, there's something about root vegetables that is grounding (no pun intended!). Ironically, during these tumultuous times, for me they are symbolic. Underground they absorb the minerals from the soil, growing undisturbed and unnoticed until the fronds on top become mature signaling that "it's time."

It's almost as if they grow unaffected, unphased by what's happening above the ground. It's a very interesting symbol—especially right now during these tumultuous times.

A good lesson from nature for all seasons.
