Lucy by the Sea

Elizabeth Strout

Lucy by the Sea is about family, relationships, and the fragility and strength of love. Set during the Pandemic, with each of the characters affected by isolation, separation and togetherness, the book captures the essence and intricacies of relationships. Strout cuts right through it revealing the cover and flip side of emotions that are exposed. The ever present backdrop of the sea serves as a metaphor for the ebb and flow of living. Lucy by the Sea is beautifully written and touches all the emotions.
