Just Folks. Thanksgiving TV Dinner

Just Folks. Thanksgiving TV Dinner

Thanksgiving TV Dinner

This year, Thanksgiving is different for all of us. In light of the traditional over abundance and gratefulness we’d normally be acknowledging and indulging ourselves in, I’m feeling instead, subdued gratitude. My family and I are not gathering in a large group this year. Instead, it’s just my husband, sister, a close friend and myself.

The menu is simpler too. No…we’re not having Swanson TV  turkey dinners but the idea of simplifying got me thinking about it.  A turkey TV dinner is convenient and simple, but it also reminds me of isolation and our loss of freedom. The freedom to dine out comfortably and to freely gather normally with friends and family. It’s a sign of the times as we’ve been advised repeatedly not to gather in large groups over the Holidays.  Therefore, some people are spending Thanksgiving alone, having to say grace before their “meal for one” because they feel safer that way. I’m grateful that I don’t have to. I’m grateful for how simple our day will be today…  time to talk, cook together and wear pjs most of the day while enjoying our home-cooked meal together later on.  It’s that simple.  I wish all of our readers a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
