Stone Creek Inn. Update.

It’s always nice to revisit a favorite restaurant. We “locals” generally try to avoid eating out on the weekends. Most places are stretched to their limits in terms of capacity, and sometimes the energy among the other patrons is “high” to say the least. Last night—a Monday—we went to the Stone Creek Inn with our friends. In June, the Stone Creek began a special prix fixe on Mondays called Bistro Mondays. As you might expect, the fare changes up each week with a choice of three bistro style selections for appetizer and entrée and two for dessert. All for $35.00!!! We had a fabulous dinner—food and dining experience both sensational as always. And, we were pleased to see that the place was packed. Every table was accounted for and the second section was open too. We sat in the original dining room, which is my personal favorite. It is a lovely space. While voices carried in the full room, the atmosphere was fun, and we could still converse. Among us, we tried all three appetizers—which last night included pate, a frisee salad with lardons, a poached egg and mustard vinaigrette dressing (outstanding), and escargot—garlicky and delicious. Duck L’Orange and Steak Au Poivre were our entrees, both prepared flawlessly. The steak was served with smashed yukon gold potatoes and sautéed Swiss chard. For dessert, we just had two choices—profiteroles and clafoutis aux cerises—a custardy little cake with cherries baked in—both choices were great. So, we are confirming, recommending and applauding Stone Creek Inn, as our 2019 Favorite Restaurant. The friendly and attentive service in addition to the outstanding and innovative food of Chef Christian Mir just makes it a super dining experience.

Below is our 2018 review. Stone Creek Inn is a restaurant to enjoy all year round.

Stone Creek Inn

Last week we had two birthdays to celebrate, and both of our honorees requested the Stone Creek Inn.  And, after dining there again, we all confirmed, “Yes, this is probably our favorite restaurant on the East End.”  Located in East Quogue, just west of Hampton Bays, we acknowledge that it is not on the North Fork.  However, its proximity—only 30 minutes from Cutchogue, and its lack of pretense makes us count it among our local favorites.

Opened in 1996, and owned and operated by culinary couple Christian Mir and Elaine DiGiacomo, dining at Stone Creek is a top shelf experience.  From the ambiance including a traditional style bar—big, heavy and friendly with top notch bar tending, to the table service—my favorite room is still the one on the east side with the fireplace, however, the newer room on the west side with the view of the Creek is lovely too.  And, the food is delicious, innovative and beautiful and the wait staff is friendly and professional.  Seasonal local ingredients are featured.

During the winter, Stone Creek has a prix fixe menu on Thursday and Sunday.  We all ordered off this menu this time.  Usually, however, we order from the al a carte menu.  Prices are moderate to expensive, but well worth the price.  The prix fixe is a wonderful value.  Favorite dishes include Long Island Duck Meatballs, Crispy Calamari Salad, Bouillabaisse, Scottish Salmon, Roasted Duck Breast, Veal Osso Buco Ragu—pretty much everything!  Desserts also are wonderful.

I highly recommend Stone Creek Inn for a fine dining experience that is consistent, warm, and unique.  I know we will be going there again soon.
