Spoiler alert. Still great!

Our original Review, soon after Inga’s Bar opened is one of our most accessed posts, especially among Brooklyn and NYC readers. Click here to read about Inga’s and our impression after our first visit. We’ve been back 4 or 5 times since our initial review. Here is our update. Spoiler alert. Still great!

As noted prior, Inga’s Bar changes its menu with the seasonal bounty. Since our well-loved Duck Poutine Croquettes with Aioli was not on the menu— I guess a bit heavy for Spring-Summer—it gave us the “push” to try something new. We chose the Mushroom Toast with morel and beech king oyster mushrooms. It was plenty for 2 people to share and delicious. The toast was a whole grain bread topped with first a cream sauce, and then a heap of sauteed mushrooms with fresh herbs. Each bite included all three components. It was an exceptional choice. There was also a Soft Shell Crab Tempura calling our names, and the salad of Spring Lettuces with buttermilk dressing— we will surely try them next time.

For dinner, I wanted to try one of the fish selections. Last week there was Arctic Char and Hake on the menu. I chose the Arctic Char, which was served wth cili, potatoes and mint. It was excellent. The Hake was prepared with coconut and served with Swiss chard and pimento. My husband stuck with his favorite, the Cheeseburger, already raved about, served with pickles, onions and mayo, and of course French fries. He was not disappointed. Inga’s has a very good selection of beers, by the way. Mentioned previously is Inga’s great bar— cocktails, wine, and a great vibe for hanging or dining.

How could we leave without dessert? My husband chose the Cardamom Rose Olive Oil Cake with pomegranate, and sprinkled with pistachios. Oh my goodness. There was not a spec of the lovely sauce or cake left on the plate. It was an exceptionally good olive oil cake and is highly recommended.

Still warm and welcoming, the crowd at Inga’s included local neighborhood couples, singles, and families and others coming to enjoy a great meal, the bar, and the quintessentially Brooklyn Heights ambiance.
