Tell Me Everything
by Pulitzer Prize Winning Author Elizabeth Strout
How much did I love this book? Words cannot even say. First, if you have read other Elizabeth Strout novels, it's a bit of a homecoming as most characters that you have met prior have at least a cameo in her latest novel Tell Me Everything. A continuation of Strout's honest depictions of real life, relationships, love, hate, good, and evil, assuredly, it's not all “black and white.” Strout skillfully intertwines multiple story lines. The writing is both impeccable and down to earth featuring “unrecorded lives’” stories; steady momentum; characters that are flawed yet sympathetic. All driven by the simple questions, “What’s the point?” “What does any life mean?” No problem if you haven't read her previous work, you can jump right in. But I assure you, you will want to reach for other Strout novels after reading this one.

So many books, so little time. Right, right - we’ve all heard it many times. Hummingbird's new BOOK SHORTS will present book reviews you can read in a minute and capture the essence of the story, thumbnail reviews that hopefully will entice you into your next read. I read constantly. My tastes vary, so I’ll review books that I love, not necessarily current books. Other HB contributors will review books that follow their interests, both newly published and past. All in all, we’ll review books we think are captivating, compelling, unputdownable.
