FEATURED REVIEW
Fever Beach
by Carl Hiassen
Fever Beach, the new novel by Carl Hiassen is hilarious! Set in Florida, somewhere on the East Coast, with a cast of misguided, eccentric characters that only Hiassen could conjure up, the story is fast paced and highly entertaining. The two main characters, Twilly Spree an environmentalist and Viva Morales, who is trying to rebuild her life after a bad marriage, come across a corrupt political plot to re-elect an immoral Congressman who is trying to alter the outcome of his election. Rich, unscrupulous philanthropists, white supremacists, a hit man with an unusual sense of right and wrong, weave in and out of the story. Just what you would expect from a Hiaasen novel plus more...a great summer read. I recommend this book.

So many books, so little time. Right, right - we’ve all heard it many times. Hummingbird's new BOOK SHORTS will present book reviews you can read in a minute and capture the essence of the story, thumbnail reviews that hopefully will entice you into your next read. I read constantly. My tastes vary, so I’ll review books that I love, not necessarily current books. Other HB contributors will review books that follow their interests, both newly published and past. All in all, we’ll review books we think are captivating, compelling, unputdownable. If you’re looking for a good book to take to the beach, make that long commute shorter, or curl up with, hopefully our reviews will help you find it. Lynda Bernard
