A Shout Out to a Local Business!

Thanksgiving 2005. Flying Point Appliance Repair Saved the Day!

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us-- and hopefully, there are not too many turkey leftovers hanging out there— I have a feel-good anecdote to share. And a shout out to a local business that showcased the value our local small businesses.

Ahead of Thanksgiving, no matter how much planning, the food preps and logistics often DO get out of hand. Sometimes the helpers you enlist are not that helpful, and really just want to hang out  drinking wine, and having something tasty and special that you make just for them... plans keep changing around. If this happens to you too, then "life is good."

This year, we had a new one added to the pre-Thanksgiving activities/aka chaos! Some intuition prompted me to "test" my oven. About two weeks ago, one time, I couldn't get the oven to "turn on"-- to actually start heating. But I gave it a break, and went back a bit later and I turned it on and all was well. I used the oven several times after that occurence with no problem igniting. Then, Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving, when I turned it on... to my horror, nothing happened. No click clicking, no gas, no "p-woof" when the oven burner lights. Nothing. I was patient. Turned it off, waited. Tried again. Five times. I looked at the clock-- 5:00 p.m., UGH, I was sure all the local appliance service companies were gone for the day. I remembered that our neighbor used Flying Point Appliance Repair in Southampton not that long ago. My daughter has used them too. So I tried, and although I got their after hours recording, I did leave a message. Truly I was thinking, I'M COOKED. Who is going to have technicians available to service an oven the day prior to Thanksgiving? Amazingly, Flying Point called me back around 20 minutes later. We confirmed the issue I was experiencing, and she said they would have someone here the following day (the Wednesday before TG) and that I would receive an email with a time window for the repair. I was surprised to receive a text and email about an hour later with the name of our service person, the time window, and the information that my stop was first on his schedule, so it should be to the early side. So far, I am ready to give Flying Point a 5 star rating, if I were so inclined to give ratings! I also was thinking, let's see if they come. Let's see if they have the part. Let's see if they can fix it. And so at about 8:45 the next morning, Andrew called and said he'd be here shortly. And in answer to all of the above: check, check, and check. All done! I headed out to pick up the turkey. My pre-TG schedule was intact!!

Shout out to Flying Point Appliance Repair. Professional, caring, friendly, polite, do what they say, know their "stuff," and saved our Thanksgiving feast 2025. I highly recommend their services if you are located anywhere in the Hamptons. This was a top shelf experience and one more thing for me to be grateful for!!
