And So This Is Christmas

And So This Is Christmas

And So This Is Christmas

Into the dark and gloom of winter comes light, and love.
Bright, shining, glowing, glittering light - imaginative, traditional, a little over the top - I savor it all.
Christmas cookies, baked and decorated by my grandchildren (as I did with their parents). The anticipation of excellent food, the smells of it cooking - and my hope for a Christmas ham this year.

The joy at finding that perfect, absolutely perfect gift as I shout to myself (and Lotus, my indulgent cat) that’s it, that’s it! Something that says, in a tangible way - see how well I know you, see how much I love you.

And to top it off with even more good cheer, I shop online, so I don’t suffer fools, crowds and overheating because I’m wearing a winter jacket in a too warm store.

Christmas movies - bring them on. Last night I watched “Love Actually” more times than I can remember. As I have “It’s A Good Life.” Handel’s “Messiah”is always magnificent.
Judy Garland forever bewitches me when she sings “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”
And I know and can sing (off key) virtually every Christmas carol.

And perhaps it’s my imagination, but at Christmas it seems to me there’s a magical feeling of good will in the air. People are more patient, more generous, more charitable, more positive.

Christmas lights up my heart, I smile more and this is my prayer:

And so this is Christmas for weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones, the road is so wrong
And so happy Christmas for black and for white
For yellow and red ones let's stop all the fights.
“Happy Xmas” (War Is Over) John Lennon

Amen.
