Good Books! A Tribute.

A Tribute to, and Recommendation of, the Work of Ursula K. Le Guin:  There is One Less Brilliant Writer On The Planet

Ursula Le Guin, one of my favorite writers, died recently.

She wrote about the possibilities that could exist in a different world, with different boundaries and a different take on morality.

And she wrote with intelligence and imagination.

And she opened my mind, in every way.

Her books are widely read, she won many awards.

If you’ve never, ever heard of her, look up the reviews of her books, the stories of her life, easily available now as praise by many, in stunning obituaries.

If you haven’t read her, or even if you have, her last book No Time to Spare, is an excellent read and a get-to-know-her before you delve into her novels, which will take you far beyond our current now - the now of such disillusioning times.

Le Guin’s  imagination was vast, her writing superb, and I wish I could have met her.

We might even have become friends.

"We read books to find out who we are. What other people, real or imaginary, do and think and feel... is an essential guide to our understanding of what we ourselves are and may become.”
