Charleston Farmers Market in Marion Square
Rise and shine! When it’s Saturday morning in Charleston, the place to "be and be seen" is the Charleston Farmers Market in Marion Square.
Locals know that early is best. That's when you beat the crowds of late rising college kids and tourists. And, when you mix and mingle with the locals while you get largest selections. That’s what I do!
When Hummingbird asked me to give a glimpse of the Charlestonian's favorite places in Charleston, the Farmers Market early on a Saturday morning was one of the first things that came to mind. The light is so lovely and inviting, and the sun isn't hot yet. All the foods and wares are set out neatly under the tents that shade the booths. Your stomach rumbles as you smell breakfasts cooking. There are food vendors of every kind imaginable. We just take our time strolling through the rows--experiencing the sights, sounds, colors, and smells of the city. There are over 100 vendors there each week including: farmers and growers, food concessions, artisans, musicians, fun activities, food trucks, and more. People stop by for a bite to eat, stock up on fresh local produce, shop for that perfect, one of a kind gift, or just hang out, enjoying the people watching and live entertainment.
Okay, this all sounds good and possibly somewhat expected, so what makes the Charleston Farmers Market in Marion Square one of the best in the country? It’s the people. The Charleston Farmers Market attracts locals from all over the Low Country. As Charlestonians, we appreciate our food and artisans, and we are always happy to share it with others. We smile a lot! That is who we are and what we do. We invite you to come here to experience Charleston like a local and don’t forget to bring your dog. They are more than welcome at the Charleston Farmers Market!
Looking forward to chatting with you again next time!
The Charleston Famers Market is open from March through December.
